A site that collects nothing

This site does not track its visitors. No cookies, no analytics, no personal data collected. Those are the three sentences on the privacy page; this note is about the choices behind them.

What is missing first. There are no third-party scripts. The fonts are served from here.1 Without analytics there is no way to know which note was read or how many people came. The decision was not to pretend to know what cannot be known.

What stands in its place. The whole site is static files. There is no server and no database, so there is nowhere to store anything. Subscription is RSS alone. No email is collected, so there are no addresses to keep.2

The decision has a cost. Writing continues without knowing what is read. Still, the one observing is better placed where it is not observed, and that fits this site.
